My mother had me at the age of 16. I had always admired her for finishing school after giving birth. I thought of her as the strongest person ever created by the hands of God. I am 17 now and my mother is still my hero. When I was 16 on May 4, 2002 my mother had a massive heart attack at the age of 33. She didn't survive and now I am 17 looking at prom dresses without her. I find myself doing something and then wanting to hurry home to tell her all about it. I know she is watching me but I can't help but cry when I hear that song from Janis Joplin that she loved so much. I never thought I could smile so big and yet cry so much when I am told I look just like her or I have so much of my mother in me. Two days after my mother's funeral was Mother's Day. I still made her something like I always did, something from the heart. Only this time I kept it and thought to myself Happy Mother's Day mom I love you. My senior year is coming to a close in a couple of months, I know that my mother will be watching me and I know that she would be proud of me as I am of her. It has been almost a year since her passing and I do think of her everyday and though I don't cry everytime, I think of how lucky I am that my mother loved me as much as she did and that she gave up so much for my siblings and I. She is and forever will be my hero. I love you Mom!!!
